Verne invites us into the universe of adventure imagined by Jules Verne, reviving the desire to explore other worlds and other futures. Through visual theatre, objects, projections, movement and various stage mechanisms, Onírica Mecánica builds a territory where the real and the imagined blur together.

The piece captures the drive that runs through Verne’s novels — to travel, to discover, to invent — and brings it into the present, championing imagination in the face of narratives about the future too often dominated by pessimism. A wordless performance that trusts in imagery and in the audience’s ability to complete what unfolds on stage.

Verne was part of Teatralia 2026, with performances at Teatros del Canal, and was later programmed by the Centro Dramático Nacional at the Teatro Valle-Inclán, where performances sold out. The performance will feature a local choir.

Onírica Mecánica

Onírica Mecánica is a company from the Region of Murcia directed by Jesús Nieto. For two decades it has worked at the intersection of visual theatre, objects, installation, technology and visual art. Its productions build stage worlds in which memory, imagination and our relationship with technology recur as central themes.

The company has paid particular attention to child, youth and family audiences, seeking a language that does not simplify the theatrical experience and that allows for different levels of reading. Its work has toured national and international festivals and theatres.
