Catherine and Mario are experienced and passionate teachers who work with students of all levels —from young teenagers to leading professionals— in renowned schools and international dance companies. On this occasion, they propose a Gaga workshop, a movement language developed over many years by Ohad Naharin and practiced daily by members of the Batsheva Dance Company. Gaga classes are based on deep listening through awareness of the body’s physical sensations. Gaga offers a way to strengthen the body, awaken the senses and imagination, and find freedom and pleasure in movement.
The experience builds awareness of physical weaknesses, awakens dormant places, reveals physical fixations, and suggests ways to release them. Fifteen hours of movement research and technique led by Mario Bermúdez, with Gaga sessions directed by Catherine Coury, learning the acclaimed repertoire of Marcat Dance and exploring the choreographic process in harmony with Lanzarote’s unique natural spaces —Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, and Islote de Fermina.
