AdultsHumor and drama intertwine in this allegory about human contradictions. In a rapid succession of fragmentary scenes, a group of martyrs behave like a troupe of comic antiheroes brimming with irony and sarcasm: Marilyn Monroe awkwardly oversexualizes herself while an unruly fan lifts her skirt, Saint Sebastian trades his arrows for plungers, and a devout woman reveals her most perverse side before her object of worship…
This colorful procession of outdated martyrs and extravagant torments ultimately leads us into the conflicted universe of our contemporary lives —the modern martyrs of our time: the torture of assembling an IKEA shelf, the tyranny of beauty and image, the obsession with romantic love, or the contradictions of social relationships.
